The great debate - whole grains vs white bread- we The great debate - whole grains vs white bread- we’ll settle it once and for all! Most white breads are processed and stripped of all the valuable nutrients in the refining process causing a more rapid rise in blood sugar after consumed. 

Whole grains, however, contain all the good stuff such as fiber-dense bran and nutrient rich germ leading to a lower glycemic index...which means the rise in blood sugar is much less drastic. 

Diets encompassing high glycemic index foods lead to increase risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and some cancers.
